Script Formatting for Fries

This page really only applies to those who've written a piece or have anything written that will be displayed on our teleprompters during the show.

While we'd like to be able to open and access any file you send us, we simply cannot. We get dozens of submissions a week and have to make it easy to handle that volume, so we've chosen some very popular formats that we will accept.

Keep in mind that if you do not follow these guidelines we may not be able to accept your submission.

File Formats We Accept

  • Final Draft - .fdr extension (Preferred)
  • Rich Text Format - .rtf extension
  • Word Document - .doc extension

Script Formatting

  1. NOTE: If you use Final Draft or a screen writing program you should be fine using their default settings.
  2. All scripts should be written in Courier or Courier New 12pt font
  3. All character names should be CAPITALIZED and centered on the page
  4. Do "not" capitalize any dialogue in your scripts. It makes adding to the teleprompters very difficult. For emphasis use quotes instead.
  5. All dialogue should have increased Left and Right margins and appear directly under the character name
  6. The title should be capitalized and centered along with the author's name (not capitalized)
  7. Any description paragraphs should be Left justified with no margins
  8. Re-read and run spell check to prevent minor errors that may prevent your piece from being accepted

If you don't have a screen writing program, you can download this converted script in RTF format as a reference. You can also purchase your own program - we recommend Final Draft (www.finaldraft.com)
